Hi David,if the box was serviced by a non Ford dealer or someone not aware of the Getrag Powershift oil refill procedure it could well be worth getting the level checked. In the Mk 4 Drivetrain sections there are quite a few threads on the Getrag Powershift. This link is a bit long but oil change procedure is within the thread.
But on the Mondeo Mk4 you can reset the oil service countdown at anytime. The problem is the "technicians" at the dealers forget to do the reset if the oil change warning isn't actually present, so the car goes out without being reset and the warning pops up at exactly 12,500 miles since it was last reset.
